Tomorrow, around 6:30 PM EST, Sue and I will be married, and Mr & Mrs. Sohmer will no longer refer only to my parents.

Following that, we leave on Monday morning for our Honeymoon and will be back home on December 2nd. Suffice it to say, I will be observing complete internet silence, and will be rather scarce around these parts until our return.

Until then, through the magic of 'having a buffer', LICD comics will run as scheduled with Lar, Tim, Randy, Ryan, Nick and Becker looking over everything (yeah, I'm just as worried as you are).

Before I leave for my wedded bliss, however, I wanted to tell you folks about 'Jesus Made Me Do It', and see what I could do about acquiring your help.

Beginning on November 15th, you can find LICD: Jesus Made Me Do It, in all major book stores in North America. This book, is smaller and more compact then our usal collections, and contains only the strips (starting from Year 3), no commentary and weighs in at 128 pages. It's got about 230 strips in there in full color and can be found on the shelves with your other favorite comics.

As this is our first book in stores as a publisher, the amount the stores ordered is rather low. Getting them to stock more of them is where we need your help. Please go to your local book store, and ask for Jesus Made Me Do It. If they don't have it in stock, ask them to order it. If they do, well, buying it would be great.

This would help us a great deal, in this and all of our future releases.

But enough business for now.

It appears I have a wedding to attend.

- Because I can.

Quote of the Day

"I am amazed when I look at you,
I see you smiling back at me,
It's like all my dreams come true."

Most people spend the week before their wedding running around doing messages, paying various people and generally unsure of what to do with themselves. For me, however, it's been more of a time of introspection.

I'm looking at where my life is, where it was and every once in a while, a few 'might have beens' slip into the thought process. My personal life, my professional life, I just couldn't be more pleased. I have far more than I deserve and each day is filled with satisfaction.

But then again, that nagging feeling keeps coming back, a little more insistent each time. And I begin to wonder,

Should I have been a pirate?

- Because I can.

Quote of the Day

"Gentlemen, I wash my hands of this weirdness."
-Jack Sparrow, from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

Where's My Bailout?

I have a problem, and rather than continue to wrestle with it within the confines of my own mind, I thought it best to lay it out on the table for all of us to discuss.

The US Economy Bailout, I simply can't decide whether or not I support it.

Intellectually, I can understand the urgent need to help banks through the crisis. If lending stops, so does business growth. However, it's the unregulated financial system and its million dollar salaries that got themselves into this mess, so why are taxpayers forced to fund their restructuring. At the same time, these executives, who thought it was it was a good idea to give 500,000$ mortgages to people earning minimum wage face no repercussions for their actions.

Here we are again, this time with the big 3 American auto companies, seeking a handout for the government. Yes, the auto industry employs 1.6 million Americans and another 2 million indirectly, and a good portion of these people would lose their jobs should these companies file for bankruptcy, either chapter 7 or 11. However, no one forced these companies to push gas guzzling SUVs for the past 10 years. No one forced GM to cancel its electric car program. These well educated executives showed no foresight, no planning and no vision.

And the taxpayers are paying the price.

The question I keep dancing around: Is the bailout a good idea or should we let companies and industries sink, letting the economy right itself with time?

- Because I can.

Quote of the Day

"We've been through too much
Time for us to group up
Come on and lets stand up now for us
This is our battle cry
Promise you that I'm certified
All we gotta do is stand up now for us
This is our battle cry"
-Battle Cry, by Shontelle
